For this assignment we were asked to do a design blitz, where we go and take pictures of things that use one of the elements of design that we learned.

The columns repeat over and over again at the same interval.

The flame takes up the largest amount of space and therefore draws the eye to it.

It sticks with a warm color palette and uses the black bar (The place with out color) to draw the eye

Symbols:

Symbols

The symbols on the bottom of the tag are standardized and tell you how to clean the garment.

Dominance:

Dominance

No one aspect of this has dominance because there are too many elements at play so your eye doesn’t know where to go. It’s poorly designed.

Unity:

Unity

All the elements (the bushes, the character, the lights) could work on there own, but when put together they work even better.

Typography:

Typography

There are four of five different fonts on the front of this bottle when it should have been two max.

Balance:

Balence

This cover split into thirds each third has something interesting that draws the eye.

Form v function:

Form v function

The added handle of this sewing machine disrupts thread and makes it now work as well as it should.

Minimalism:

Minimalism

This cover only has two colors and a lot of white space, with very little text.

Overall this assignment was kind of difficult to do when I am confined to just my house, but I managed this as best I could. It can be a bit difficult, it’s easy to ok and see ‘oh that’s bad design’ but can be harder to know what about it is poorly designed, this assignment help with that I suppose, but I still had a real tough time with it.
