Tattoo design

For this assignment:

We were asked to design a tattoo to represent our personality.

I’ve always wanted a tattoo but I am afraid of needles so I haven’t gotten one yet.

I designed this, it’s a moon that is also a spooky eye. Yellow because the moon is usually kind of yellow, blue because of ‘blue moons’ and orange because of the blood moon. How does a spooky moon eye reflect my personality? Well it’s weird and spooky but cartoon-y and charming at the same time. If I got this tattoo I’d get one on inside of both wrists.

I made this using firealpaca, a free drawing program.

First select the circle from the top bar and use the dot to drop the anchor point where you want it. then draw a circle.

Then with the circle tool still on draw several short dashes around the sides.

Then turn the tool off and draw a little dash in the center.

On a new layer under your line art you use the bucket tool to dye inside the circle the color of your choice. Then you must create a new layer then check of ‘Clipping mask’ over the color layer.

Now take a color paler than your base color and swipe up one side for the shine, then take a color darker than your base color and swipe up the other to create the shadow.

Merge the clipping mask down and create a new one. use the paint bucket tool and dye the colors a new color off your choice.

Then all you have to do is save it as either a .png or a .jpeg (if you don’t select these it will save as an .mpd which only opens in firealpaca.

  1. Wow! This is really interesting! Maybe you could film yourself so we can see you make it almost like it is in person! I thought you did a really good job!

  2. I like the design of the tattoo, its nice and simple. I can also see the cartoon charm from it as you mentioned. I found the usage of images for creating the tattoo to be very helpful when looking at the creation process.
